CARIMI: THE HOUSTON TEXAS VERDICT FROM THE PROMOTER!
KM spoke to GUESTA (One of the promoters of HOUSTON KREYOL) about the show.
GUESTA: " Happy Easter to you. CARIMI shut down Houston. More than 1000 ppl showed up. Ppl were drunk. The cops asked us to shut it down. 3 am they were buying tickets to get in. It ended at 3:30am and they still didn't want to go home. They asked what's next? They want Tvice and Carimi back, some asked for Nu Look next.
The last count that I remember (In terms of PAID TICKETS) was 864. You're not going to believe this. Caribbean ppl can give you a heart attack. 5 months of advertising... we only sold 90 tickets.... and then Do you know every store sold out that last day? We had more fans from other countries than Haitians. When I say they blew up my phone for Carimi it's an understatement. The two guys who were selling tickets to the Dominican ppl ran out of tickets and had to meet us somewhere to get more. A lot of them bought at the door; and didn't care if the party was going to end in a few minutes.
One lady said she traveled to Dominica to see Carimi and that concert was canceled. She came to thank me for bringing them and I gave her a chance to see them. Man, we don't really give our artists what they deserve. I was in awe the last week. I got them (2 Ladies from Dominica) backstage to take pictures with the guys, it was like they saw Michael Jackson. They started screaming in my ears. Made me feel proud though, that other countries appreciate our music."
